Internships

Communication and outreach intern. Job details in the attached description.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the office is closed and we have moved towards a remote work policy.

Press Start welcomes enthusiastic and dedicated interns to our team of experienced journalists, social media experts, and free press advocates. Help promote and improve the project, and gain unique experience and skills in areas such as crowdfunding and social entrepreneurship.

We are looking for people for a range of roles, including traditional and social media marketing, and editorial. You must be self-motivated and have a demonstrated interest or experience in journalism, media and media innovation, or social media.

Our office is in Prague, but interns can work remotely.

Duties could include:

  • Helping to create profiles of featured journalists
  • Building communities around the website, including researching target audiences to identify marketing opportunities or potential donors
  • Copywriting
  • Liaising with potential partner organizations
  • Editing contributions by non-native journalists
  • Assisting generally with marketing campaigns (both via personal contacts and creating/distributing promotional material), including through social media
  • Helping with content management or technical troubleshooting

Editorial interns must have at least two of the following:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Journalism experience (can include journalism studies or work on the school newspaper)
  • Native English skills

Marketing interns must have:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong social media experience

Candidates with multiple languages and multimedia experience strongly preferred.

Schedule

Negotiable, but we ask for a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Conditions

This internship is unpaid. For those who wish to join us in Prague, all costs related to travel, accommodation, health insurance, and living expenses are the responsibility of either the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns are responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
